Happy Thanksgiving

by Kristin 3 Comments

Be joyful always; pray continually; give thanks in all circumstances, for this is God's will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5: 16-18 I am thankful: For homes that welcome... And family that gathers... For a daddy who adores... And hearts that love... For hands that serve... And those that provide... For a table set with love... And brought to life with laughter... For Littles who give hope for the future... And a ...

Love

by Kristin 1 Comment

I love you higher than the sky, Deeper than the sea, And more than the stars. I say this to Littlest every night when I put her in her crib.  She knows the words by heart and I love to hear her repeat it back to me each night.  Sometimes the older Littles help tuck their baby sister in and they, too, know the words by heart. This morning one of the older Littles was feeling sad, and worried about the day ahead at school.  She was weepy ...

Fuzzy reception…

by Kristin Leave a Comment

I started to get really annoyed on my walk this morning.  Which is a bummer since I left with such pure and noble intentions. God has His thumb prints all over His will for my life right now, which is such a tremendous blessing I am truly speechless.  I have so much to say and yet can't seem to form a complete thought this morning, so I thought I'd clear the fog by going for a walk.  I would like to tell you that I walk for exercise, ...

Let the walls come tumbling down

Let the walls come tumbling down

Twenty years ago today the Berlin Wall came down. The physical cage of captivity, oppression, communism, and an old regime was torn down with the eyes of the world watching. The crumbled concrete became a symbol of new world order.  Freedom.  Progress. Hope. Nine months before the wall fell, and very unaware of the events that were to come, I travelled to East Berlin.  I was living in Strasbourg, France on a Junior year abroad gig. ...

The Little Rock

by Kristin Leave a Comment

A week or so ago I shared a biblical (and emotional) example of how God designed husbands and wives to be partners. Today, I'd like to share from a more earthly perspective. I'm traveling today. Alone. And it's just not the same as traveling with Husband. Aside from the obvious reasons I prefer to travel with Husband (one of which is definitely biblical), there are advantages to having him by my side. 1) The Admiral's Club 2) free ...

These are the words I would say…

by Kristin Leave a Comment

Mark the date and the time, I am home alone.  Did you get that? In my house. By myself! Y'all, I can count on one hand how many times I've been in the house by myself in the last several years.  I have five fingers, so you do the countin'. I AM ALL BY MYSELF.  Hallelujah! Or not. I woke up spinning in circles this morning not quite sure what to do with my cherished four hours.  As I hustled to get the Littles out the door I ...

Sweet Potato Bites

by Kristin 6 Comments

Truth is we're still strung out on a high-fructose corn syrup high.  You can imagine the mother load of candy four Littles rack up on Halloween.  I've heard some mother's offer to pay their children a coin or two for each piece of candy in an attempt to rid the burden.  Friends, I'm not that rich.  Coins or not, we don't have enough to make a dent in the mound of well, Mounds we've got going on over here. In a rare occurrence, I am ...
